Singapore’s Civic District comes alive at night featuring multimedia projections, art installations, a food street, an art market, live music performances and roving acts. The inaugural festival is spread across 6 zones, both outdoor and indoor spaces at 4 iconic institutions such as the National Gallery Singapore, The Arts House, Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall and Asian Civilisation Museum. Here is what you can expect at the Civic District Outdoor Festival: When Time Stood Still.

Hemera’s Dream Outdoor Projection Trail

The main highlight of the festival is the multimedia projections called the Hemera’s Dream across the four iconic institutions concurrently.  I would suggest for you to start your visit at the National Gallery Singapore as the full story of Hemera’s Dream will unfold across the entire facade. The story is about 2 siblings, Hemera and Aether, attempting to keep the Cosmic Clock running and The Eternal City stays awake. Somehow the story line reminds me of Alice Through the Looking Glass.

Projections timing: 8pm, 8.40pm, 9.20pm, 10pm, 10.40pm

The Time Vortex by Adeline Loo

The Time Vortex is an installation by Adeline Loo. This installation is her responds to the festival’s theme “When Time Stood Still” with her own version of time tunnel.
