Singapore to Johor Bahru by Train in 5 minutes

Johor Bahru is a favourite destination to feast and shop among Singaporeans. While there are many ways of getting across, clearing Singapore and Malaysia custom can be dreadful. The best and fastest way to get to Johor Bahru is by the KTM train shuttle between Woodlands and JB Sentral. Here’s how you can get to JB in 5 minutes with 5 simple steps.

Step 1 – Book your tickets online

The KTM Shuttle Tebrau runs 31 trips daily between Singapore and Johor Bahru. From June 2022, KTM Shuttle Tebrau Train tickets can be purchased online (Limit to 6 tickets per transaction) at KTMB Official website or over the counter at KTM Train station. Each passenger is required to submit their passport number to purchase a ticket. If you’re planning for a weekend trip, book your train tickets 1 month in advance to avoid disappointment.

Step 2 – Present your passport at the Boarding Gate

From June 2022, passengers no longer required to validate their ticket over the counter or produce an e-ticket to the officer. Just present your passport to scan for verification at the entrance of Woodlands Train Station (Level 2) during boarding.

At JB Sentral Station

From June 2022, passengers are required to go through the Automatic Controller Gate (ACG) by scanning their passport for verification purposes.


Step 3 – Proceed to the Train Station

  • KTM Tebrau Shuttle

The entrance to the train station will open 30 minutes prior to departure. The train shuttle adopts free seating policy. If you arrived late during the peak period, you will end up standing on the train.


Step 4 – Clear Singapore and Malaysia Immigration

Seamless procedure with both Singapore and Malaysia custom clearance at Woodlands Train Checkpoint. Shorter queue, quick clearance!

At JB Sentral Train Station

All passengers will clear Malaysia Custom at JB Sentral Train Station and clearance for Singapore Custom will be done at Woodlands Train Checkpoint.


Step 5 – Board the Train
