Ever since the resumption of activities in Phase 2, staycations has been growing in popularity among Singaporeans. Most hotels in Singapore are offering family-friendly staycation packages with up to 50% discounts. For instance, Fairmont Singapore, a luxury business hotel has pivoted its offerings toward families. The Upsized Staycation deal allows up to two kids to stay for free, inclusive of breakfast, S$100 nett in dining credits, a S$50 nett return stay voucher and complimentary parking at Raffles City Shopping Centre from S$305++ per night. Fairmont Singapore is conveniently located on top of Raffles City Shopping Centre and connected to City Hall MRT station; makes it an ideal staycation property to rediscover Singapore’s hidden gems.
Contactless Check-In and Check-Out
As we adapt to a new normal, Fairmont Singapore introduced an easy, safe and touchless solution to check-in and out of the hotel with minimal physical contact and interaction.
Stepping into Fairmont Singapore, the entrance is flanked by a contactless temperature taking device. The front desk is fitted with plastic panels between staff and guests to reduce exposure to the virus. The entire check-in process is seamless. Prior my stay, I received an email to complete the pre-arrival registration. All I need to do is to fill in my particulars, upload my identification card and make payment (pre-authorisation). Once done, I received the QR code which I need to scan on arrival to collect my room key. At the end of my stay, I can do a self check-out by confirming the final bill via email and drop the key at the lobby.
North and South Tower
The I.M. Pei designed hotel offers 26 floors of 778 rooms in total, across two towers. If you are thinking of booking the refreshed rooms, the South Tower has been temporarily converted to serve as a Stay Home Designated Facility (SDF). Currently, only the (older rooms) North Tower is open for staycation.
Fairmont Signature Suite
The 56 sqm Fairmont Signature Suite comes with 2 private balcony. The junior suite comes with a king bed and living area. The room is tastefully designed with Peranakan touches such as bespoke carpeting, curtains mimicking traditional kebayas and canvas art hang above the headboard. With generous living space, it is perfect for small gathering of 5. Depending on the room layout, some of the suite comes with 1 or 2 TVs.
Choice of City or Pool View
In my opinion, both views were excellent. The pool view has restricted view of Marina Bay Sands while city view is facing Bras Basah Bugis Precinct and City Hall.
The marble bathroom is well maintained but I am not a fan of shower/tub combos. Fairmont partnered with Le Labo for its bath amenities featuring Rose 31, a hallmark scent of the boutique fragrance maker.
Like most hotels, Fairmont’s welcome care pack consist of a pack of masks, hand sanitiser and antiseptic wet wipes.
Fairmont King Room
Fairmont King Room (#1802) is the lead-in room. At 45 sqm, this is considered big based on Singapore’s hotel standard.
Tips: Room #01 to #03 facing the pool has restricted view of Marina Bay Sands while city view room is facing Bugis and Raffles Hotel.
Some of the room (#1610) feature wood plantation shutters in the bathroom.
Spacious modern leather-clad work desk and comfy lounge sofa.
Complimentary Coffee/Tea amenity and large wardrobe with personal safe, iron and ironing board.
There is no bathtub but a standing rain-shower with a marble slab bench.

The North Tower rooms has the view of either city or pool view. Some of the rooms facing the pool has partial view Marina Bay Sands. Request for a room ending with “02” if you like the view of the bay.
Tips: Request for a room (pool view) ending with “01”, “02” or “03” if you wish to have Marina Bay view.
In-Room Dining
S$100 dining credits can be used for in-room dining or at operating restaurants (excluding SKAI and JAAN). Simply scan the QR code for the digital menu and placed the order. Since I stayed for 2 nights, I have the luxury to spend up to S$200 in total!
Halal In-Room Breakfast
Stay in the comfort of your room, order in and enjoy every bite of your breakfast in bed! This service is included as part of the Upsized Staycation package. Simply call in-room dining or placed your order online and indicate your preference timing to be delivered to your room. In addition, the in-room dining menu is from the halal kitchen.
Breakfast at Prego
Alternatively, breakfast is served at Prego but advance reservation and preorder breakfast is recommended due to limited dining capacity.
Swimming Pool
The outdoor pool and gym are located on level 8 is open from 7.00am to 7.00pm daily. You need to book your preferred slot (2-hour use) to adhere with the safety distancing guidelines.
In a Nutshell
The Upsized Staycation package for S$305++ per night is a good deal (including free parking, S$150 worth of dining credits and return stay voucher). If you are planning for a staycation with your extended family, the deal allows you to book a second room at 50% off the rate! This package is available for stays from now till 30 June 2021.

- Tired rooms on the North Tower
- The air condition just don’t seem to cool the room
- The room walls are thin and you could occasionally hear the clanking or hissing noises from the water pipes

Last year, I stayed at the nearby Swissotel. Nice hotel but the breakfast was just ok. So I went to Prego :P It was delicious!
