Standing 131 meters tall, Kyoto Tower is tallest structure in Kyoto. Located opposite Kyoto Station, the tower can be seen at every angle in the city. The tower was completed in 1964 even though it has been the subject of controversy during its planning phase. Since I have some time to spare, I decided to went up the Observation Deck.

The ticketing counter is located on the 11th floor. You may purchased the ticket using the ticketing machine for ¥770 per person.

Observation Deck
The observation deck is really small but plenty of free binoculars to use.

The best time to visit the observation deck is during the sunset hour.
There is a mini-shrine for visitors to make a wish.
Kyoto Tower Observation Deck offers good views of Kyoto. You can easily spend less than an hour at the tower. While this is not a ‘must-see places’, you will get to see a different perspective of Kyoto city.
