Yayoi Kusama’s work is now in Indonesia featuring more than 130 works that span almost 70 years. The first large-scale exhibition is making its last stop in Jakarta till 9 September 2018 at Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (MACAN). Kusama is one of the world’s most influential artists, and has played a crucial role in key art movements that inspired millions around the world. I have been to “Yayoi Kusama: Life Is the Heart of a Rainbow” showcased at National Gallery Singapore but Jakarta edition is still worth a visit!
Book your tickets in advance
MACAN is Indonesia’s first modern art museum opened on November 2017 located at AKR Tower in west Jakarta. The best option to get there is by ride-hailing app Grab. I would advised to buy the exhibition tickets online in advance to avoid the crowd.

Nice pictures! I regret missing the exhibit here in Sg after seeing your pictures.
Wow, thanks for sharing! Yayoi Kusama is really a creative artist and I like her works a lot. Her previous installations in Singapore was a hit too!
Wow! Phone photography was allowed here? I was at Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition in Matsumoto but only a small area allows photography.
Yes! I guess this is to prevent visitors from getting dangerously too close or damage the artworks while in the midst of taking a photograph.
