Cherry Blossoms at Gardens by the Bay

If you have not seen the cherry blossom before, here is your chance to see with more than 20 varieties of the plant blooming here in tropical Singapore!  Thanks to Gardens by the bay, you do not need to travel abroad to see the blooms. I visited the Flower Dome in the morning and most of the sakura trees have started to bloom in this experimental floral display. You can expect varieties of blooms of a range of shades from white to pink.

The “Blossom Beats” floral display is the first time of its kind that allow visitors can see such a myriad of cherry blossoms, as well as other blossoms in Singapore. The trees on display are imported from Japan and Germany, is often represents the fragility and the beauty of life.

 

Flowers that you should look out for:

  • Prunus ‘Accolade’
  • Prunus ‘Fujishidare’
  • Prunus ‘Genpei Shidare’
  • Prunus Yedoensis ‘Yoshino’

The floral display also feature quintessential Japanese elements such as a tori gate, Japanese screens and kimono.

Cherry blossoms are ephemeral in nature, with flowers lasting about one to two weeks. Although the floral display is expected to run till March 27, I would suggest for you to visit the Flower Dome as soon as possible.
