Cherry Blossoms at Gardens by the Bay

If you have not seen the cherry blossom before, here is your chance to see with more than 20 varieties of the plant blooming here in tropical Singapore!  Thanks to Gardens by the bay, you do not need to travel abroad to see the blooms. I visited the Flower Dome in the morning and most of the sakura trees have started to bloom in this experimental floral display. You can expect varieties of blooms of a range of shades from white to pink.

The Mid-Autumn celebrations at Gardens by the Bay is back! This year the Flower Dome is transformed into a rich tapestry of red, gold and pink where more than 10,000 Chrysanthemums in a myriad of colours are in full bloom. This is the first time the chrysanthemums take the centre stage as the main flower species.

Diwali Celebration at Gardens by the Bay

Celebration: Deepavali

Unlike Little India where the streets are artfully decorated with an explosion of vibrant, colourful arches and lights, Gardens by the Bay has its own way to celebrate Deepavali – The Festival of Lights. The Flower Field Display is inspired by by the traditional Indian decorative art kolam that features Indian fabric lanterns sitting on a bed of vivid purple and orange flora, made up of flowers like Amaranths, Cone Flowers and Cockscombs, while  carved wooden elephants add to the festive ambiance.

Deepavali Celebration

The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of lights (or deep) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolise the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness.
