Since I have only a few days in Kota Kinabalu, I decided to stay within the city centre. The distance from the airport to the city is just 15 minutes away. Hotel Grandis is located next to Suria Sabah Shopping Mall and within walking distance to many attractions such as Gaya Sunday Market, Filipino Market, Atkinson Clock Tower and Signal Hill Observation Deck. If you are going for Island hopping, Jesselton Jetty is nearby the hotel too. Opened in 2013, this 13-storey hotel is one of the latest hotel near the city.
The Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, attached to the hotel is very convenient for shopping and dining.
The hotel lobby is located on the ground floor. I find it relatively small for a hotel with 188 rooms. It can get very busy during the check-in period and I can see that the hotel is popular among chinese tourists.
Deluxe Sea View Room
I have requested for higher floor, I got my room on level 13 corridor.
The Deluxe Sea Room is very spacious. Comes with a double bed and small living area.
The room offers splendid view of the blue sea, breathtaking sunsets and the picturesque Tunku Abdul Rahman Park islands. Waking up with that kind of view definitely made your morning!
The hotel offers free WiFi with fast connectivity.
Coffee and tea making facilities in the room.
Ironing, electronic safe and sarongs are provided too.
The toilet has a sea view too! It has a bathtub and standing rain shower.
The best thing is, I can watch the sunset at the comfort of my room. Since the airport is nearby, you can also do plane spotting too.
Jesselton Point
My stay at Grandis Hotel includes daily breakfast at Rosea Cafe located on Level 1. The buffet had sufficient choices to satisfy all tastes with Western and Asian options. Come down early and choose your best table facing the sea view.
If you can’t get enough of the view, head up to the roof and take a dip in the pool while admiring the sea view.
Perfect place to enjoy your drink in the evening.
The small fitness center is also a great place to do your workout.
Guests staying at Grandis Hotel will enjoy easy access to local attractions given the close proximity. I would definitely recommend this property if you are planning to visit Kota Kinabalu.
