Tucked away in the city, Village Hotel Katong has its own charm. The hotel is located on the eastern of Singapore, surrounding heritage district such as Joo Chiat and Katong. From afar, the hotel exterior looks jaded but the refurbished modern interior with 229 rooms, inspired by the Peranakan heritage will definitely change your impression!
Check-in was a breeze. The font desk introduced me with the new self-service kiosk. Pretty easy and quick but you will need to have your hotel booking ID with you. However, I do have problem during check out using the kiosk. I think the self service kiosk works well if you book the room directly using the hotel website instead of third party agent.
My room is located on level 11. The hotel building is like a pyramid, bigger room is located on the lower floors while the smaller room is located on upper floors.
Deluxe Katong Room
The design of the room is modern and stylish with fuschia Peranakan colour. The motif of the carpet really makes the room refresh.
The room also comes equipped with a full range of amenities tailored to suit the savvy business traveller, complete with complimentary wired Internet and Wi-Fi access and 46-inch LED TVs with in-built port access to portable electronic devices.
No minibar available but if you are feeling hungry, they are plenty food options to choose right near the hotel.
Safe box, bedroom slippers, bathrobe and ironing facilities are provided in the room.
The bathroom equipped with a standing rain shower.
The room comes with a balcony. It can get windy at times and an ideal place to have your afternoon tea.
The swimming pool is located on Level 4 if you would like to take a dip in a circular pool.
The hotel also provide hourly complimentary Shuttle Service to Big Splash at East Coast Park from 8:35am to 10:35pm. The route also do a stopover at Parkway Parade. Village Hotel Katong is an ideal location for a short stopover or staycation in Singapore. Although far from the MRT Station, there are public buses that takes you to the city. The cheapest rate starts from $170++ per night.
