‘Old-School’ is best to describe Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, the first boutique hotel chain property in Singapore under InterContinental Hotels Group. As the name suggest, the hotel is located at Katong district, a location with strong Peranakan heritage influences. The hotel housed in the former Joo Chiat police station, features design infused with the local Peranakan culture; art murals in the rooms depict the laidback, communal lifestyle of the neighborhood. Even though the location is a tad further from the city, it is easy to get there by bus.
The lobby is well decorated with peranakan influence. Notice the colourful designs on the wall behind the reception? It is made up from bits of porcelain wares and tiles. While waiting for the check-in process to be completed, I was offered a welcome drink with the choice of iced latte or tea.
Level 14th corridor.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Indigo. I love the peranakan concept and every corner is a Instagram-worthy spot. Even though the location is far off from the city, there are plenty of restaurants and amenities near the premises. If you are planing to catch a late night movie, the cinema located at 112 Katong Mall is just a stone’s throw away.
